Officials cancel Will County Fair over coronavirus concerns

PEOTONE, Ill. — Officials say they're canceling the Will County Fair because of the corornavirus pandemic. The event was scheduled for late August and has been in existence for over a century. The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports the fair board plans to discuss another event at its meeting next month, like a demolition derby in the fall. Dozens of Illinois counties have canceled fairs. Earlier this month officials canceled the Illinois State Fair for the first time since the 1940s.
